Nothing super exciting to talk about this week, so cue the picture storybook edition. To give some more body to this read, here are some film developments and other notable pictures to share from the previous 11 weeks. We’d be remiss not to say that most of the film photos have Monty in centerframe, but in her defence, the camera has a sock cover instead of a proper case, and Monty is simply too chic to deal with that right now. On the other hand, Felix is happy to absorb that sock-shame as a good snap of Monty is worth it. Either way, we are on the hunt for a new camera case ASAP.
A week in Review
One standout moment, however, was a meal at Pierozek, the traditional Polish restaurant in Greenpoint. We first went here last year and had a meal so memorable that we have been waiting for the perfect moment to return. Upon revisiting, we treated ourselves to a serving of spinach pierogi, mushroom and saurkraut pierogi, and a nourishing bowl of borscht with mini pierogi. This comfort food really hit the spot, and we are dreaming of coming back again soon. We don’t know how they fit so much spinach and flavour inside a single dumpling, but our bodies have been craving a dense, iron-rich greens fix.
Besides that, the week was pretty normal and relaxed, a bit of eating, walking and shopping - succinctly put, exploring. Although Monty has become a regular, this time Felix came along to the local Goodwill op shop (or thrift store if you’ve acclimatised) and cleaned up! It’s a great op shop, really big, fairly priced, dangerously close to home and frequently replenished - I’m talking one whole rack every 10 mins. There is good entertainment in watching the vultures (resellers) fight each other as an employee wheels out a new rack of unseen clothing onto the store floor. There is pushing and shoving, blocking with trolleys -it’s crazy. Even still, there are clothes left for us normies to score. We are glad they’re more focused on the stock that doesn’t even exist yet because it gives us more of a chance to get familiar with the racks. With all that said, Savers Carrum, you’ll never be beat <3.
Now for the picture of it all!

Weird things this week!
Dogs so ugly that they are cute. I think the adopt don’t shop message has sunk in, and these dogs are oozing with personality.
What we miss this week!
People who understand what we are saying. Sure, the accent is a bit of a barrier. Today Monty had an exchange that went on for far too long, where the barista was asking “Oat milk or whole milk?” to which she gave her cleanest “oat” about 4 times before someone intervened. But there are small words that don’t translate. Cheers, keen, reckon are among the most common words that leave people puzzled, but are second nature to us. We don’t think we’ll be ditching any of our Aussie phrases anytime soon; instead, we’d rather promote carelessness with others.
